Racing Experience
This year's edition of the Hyde Park Blast Criterium Bike Race will again bring one of the best cycling experiences back to the roads of historic Hyde Park in Cincinnati, OH. Racing will again be centered around Hyde Park Square. Racers will follow the same course from the past 2 years, running through the heart of the Blast Block Party. Junior Races!
Event Registration
Registration closes 30 minutes prior to each category start time. This is a USCF sanctioned race and all racers will need to have a USCF license. One-day licenses will be available the day of the race for an additional fee. Race Director reserves the right to change or alter the start times or laps to ensure a succesful event.
You will be required to race the category listed on your license.
What is a Criterium?
A criterium, or crit, is a type of bike race held on a short course (usually less than 5 km), often run on closed-off city center streets. Criteriums are the most common type of bicycle racing in the continental United States. Race length can be determined by a total time or a number of laps, in which case the number of remaining laps is calculated as the race progresses. Generally the event's duration (commonly one hour) is shorter than that of a traditional road race. However, the average speed and intensity are appreciably higher. The winner is the first rider to cross the finish line without having been "lapped."
Events often have prizes (called primes, usually cash) for winning specific intermediate laps (for instance, every 10th lap). Success in criteriums requires a mix of good technical skills - in particular, the ability to corner rapidly and sharply - and riding safely with a large group on a short circuit and exceptional fitness to attack other riders and repeatedly accelerate hard from corners.

Registration opens at 1:45 pm and closes 30 minutes prior to all category start times.
All racers except for kids must have a USCF license or purchase a one-day license at the race. Racing outside your category is not recommended by the USCF. Promoter reserves the right to change the course and or start times as they deem necessary.
All kids must be registered and accompanied by an adult and everyone must wear
